Sprint Backlog

Short Tip: A board with the Developers’ activities for the Sprint’s stories.

What is it?

A Kanban board that reflects the Developers’ plan on how to build the stories selected for the Sprint. The board is formed by the Sprint’s goal; Sprint’s stories; and technical activities to be carried out by the Developers. These activities are arranged in columns indicating their status.

 Why use it?

The board is a simple way of providing transparency about the activities being conducted by each team member, as well as their relationship with the Sprint’s story and goal.

 How to use it?

The board is directly designed by the Developers with help from the Scrum Master, but not necessarily involving the Product Owner.

 The following steps are recommended:

  • Based on the template below, describe the Sprint’s goal agreed at the Sprint Planning Meeting and include the stories selected for the Sprint;
  • Detail the activities to be carried out by the Developers in the “To Do” section;
  • As the Sprint progresses, for each initiated activity, move the activity card to “Doing”;
  • When the activity is finished, move the activity card to “Done”;
  • When all activities in a Story are finished, and it has met the Definition of Done, move the Story to “Done”
