Portfolio Roadmap
Short Tip: It is a high-level map of the main portfolio releases.
What is it?
It is a high-level map used for communication with stakeholders in general about portfolio releases. The Roadmap focuses on interdependencies between the main programs and key products; it is also the instrument used to align other strategic organization actions.
Why use it?
The Roadmap is the main communication tool with high-level stakeholders about planned releases. This sharing of information allows identifying gaps or unplanned interdependencies, as well as generating complementary exchanges between the areas.
How to use it?
The Roadmap is usually implemented using digital tools, in order to make it visible to stakeholders regardless of their location.
It is built by the Portfolio Manager in coordination with the Program Leaders.
The portfolio roadmap should provide for necessary actions in other areas of the organization not directly related to product building (e.g., Legal, Marketing, etc.), in order to enable the value generation planned for the release.
