Value Assessment
Short Tip: Assessment of the value generated by the increment.
What is it?
It consists in assessing the value generated by the product’s increment. If a release is carried out, this assessment can be captured directly from users. Otherwise, it is obtained from the Program Leader and the other stakeholders.
Why use it?
Value assessment is one of the main activities that distinguishes traditional management from projects. It allows the constant analysis of development from the user’s perspective, which can result in reassessing the initial plans.
How to use it?
Value assessment is conducted by the Initiative Leader, and it is executed through the following steps:
- In the beginning of the Value Assessment phase, hold a Cycle Review meeting where the participants collect feedback directly from stakeholders;
- If a release has been directly made to users, their feedback will be collected according to the product’s characteristics;
- Among the ways of collecting user feedback are:
- Guerrilla Testing: it consists in promoting the product directly to users to capture their reaction;
- Surveying: usually conducted digitally, it should have few questions, all focused on the surveyed group;
- A/B Test Metrics: exposing a control user group to the product’s new version and measuring its reaction through behavior metrics.
- With physical products, inspection and observed use are frequently used as feedback collection techniques.
- At the end of the value assessment stage, insights can be generated by the team based on the feedback received.
