Cycle Backlog
Short Tip: A board with the Development Team’s activities for the Cycle.
What is it?
A Kanban board that reflects the Development Team’s plan on how to build the Product Backlog items selected for the Cycle. The board is formed by the Cycle’s goal, the Backlog items and the technical activities to be developed by the Development Team. These activities are arranged in columns indicating their status.
Why use it?
The board is a simple way of providing transparency about the activities being conducted by each team member, as well as their relationship with the Product Backlog item and the Cycle’s goal.
How to use it?
The board is directly designed by the Development Team without necessarily involving the Initiative Leader.
The following steps are recommended:
- Based on the template below, describe the Cycle’s goal agreed at the Cycle Planning Meeting and include the Backlog items selected for the Cycle;
- Detail the activities to be carried out by the Development Team in the “To Do” section;
- As the Cycle progresses, for each initiated activity, move the activity card to “Doing”;
- When that activity is finished, move the activity card to “Done”;
- When all activities of an item are finished, and it has met the Definition of Done, move the item to “Done”.
