Daily Meetings
Short Tip: A daily event of up to 15 minutes to align the work of the development team.
What is it?
It is a daily, stand-up meeting held by the Development Team for alignment on tasks already performed, tasks to be performed that day, and any obstacles to their proper execution.
Why use it?
Daily meetings are more effective than written communication or long meetings. In less than 15 minutes, the Development Team can share work information and avoid noise that leads to loss of productivity.
It is worth remembering that a daily meeting is not a project monitoring meeting, since the team provides information for itself and not for a manager.
How to use it?
The meeting should last a maximum of 15 minutes and is coordinated by the development team itself.
In the hybrid model (PIM-Go© Hybrid), some initiatives may have many team members. Therefore, it is advisable that the Initiative Leader invite those who will contribute most to this alignment meeting, observing the 15-minute timebox.
Each development team member answers three questions:
- What did I do yesterday?
- What will I do today?
- Is there any obstacle to my work?
In the Agile model (PIM-Go© Agile), the Scrum Master can assist with the process to make the meeting more fruitful. If an obstacle is mentioned, the Scrum Master should write it down for a future solution, thus enabling the team to be focused on delivering the increment. In the hybrid model (PIM-Go© Hybrid), the Initiative Leader can play this role.
If the team diverts the discussion to specific topics that may harm the purpose of the meeting, the discussion should be guided back to the agenda, and a specific meeting should be scheduled to deal with those topics only with the relevant participants.
