Cycles

Short Tip: The stage of solution development and delivery.

What is it?

It is the stage of solution development and delivery. Its goal is to carry out a cyclical development that promotes frequent releases which add value to users and allow testing product hypotheses.

Why use it?

Using development Cycles enables development in iterations and increments. This allows meeting the organization’s requirements that are typical of predictive projects, while keeping the possibility of correcting the product’s course (adaptation) through constant user feedback.

How to use it?

Cycles are comprised of five sequential steps:

  1. Cycle Planning: refining the plan for a particular cycle;
  2. Detailed Explanation: detailing the high-level specification to a sufficient degree for conducting the development activities;
  3. Building and Testing: developing the product and its related tests;
  4. Value Assessment: assessing the value that the product’s increment generated to users;
  5. Retrospective: the team’s assessment of opportunities for improving its own development process.
